Amy
When Amy came in to today, she had two things on her mind that I know of. One was to sit at our espresso bar and have a coffee and unwind and the second was a new look! Her hair was past her shoulders with some layering. Most of the time Amy found herself pulling her hair back. Amy's hair is very wavy, with some curl around her face. With her busy schedule as a teacher, she wanted something easy, maintenence free, as well as, contemporary and fun. I think the shorter, curlier look really enhanced her great smile and eyes.
Christine
Chris has been a client of the little salon for quite a few years now. We have gone through many styles. I think of all of them, I like this one best for her. Chris has very thick wavy hair. Today after the blow dry I used the flat iron to prepare for the finish cutting, which is always done dry. Chris's cut can be worn, either straight or curly. We have been experimenting with a new color for Chris and today I think we hit on the perfect formula. I use Tocco Magico in a rich warm brown, with mahogany undertones, which complements Chris's beautiful complexion.
Kelly Q
Brian colored and cut Kelly's hair today. The cut is a basic long layered cut, which Kelly usually dries partially and let's the rest dry naturally. She has some natural wave in her hair, which gives the layers alot of movement. Brian, Kristin and I are all very fortunate to have worked with Kelly. She has great hair, not to mention being a charming and beautiful woman.
Catherine
Catherine was standing at the desk when I called her name to snap the picture. She quickly turned to look and her hair fell over her eye. I thought it gave the look a bit of drama for the moment, even though it would probably interfere with her work back at the office. She was letting her hair grow, but decided that the best look for her was shorter, which shows off her very attractive features. So today I gave her a new look.
That's Precision!
Bella Bella
While Wendy has her hair cut, Bella has her hair "coiffed" at Metro Pet. Metro Pet is the premier canine groomer just two doors down from the little salon on Central Ave. Wendy is the owner of Lotus. Lotus is 1451 Main Street in Sarasota, just in case you haven't been there, Lotus has some of the best fashions you will find in Sarasota! Lotus online is www.lotussarasota.com.

Connie
Geri is responsible for Connie's striking color. Not only is the red beautiful, the highlights add a wonderful glow and all that is topped off with a warm blonde gloss. I cut Connie's hair into a classic bob, which is shorter in the back and longer on the sides. Connie is a delight, we get to see her twice a week!
Carrie
Ina
Teri
When Teri arrives at the salon there are always lots of laughs and smiles. We awlays look forward to her visits. We put a few highlights on the crown of Teri's hair and color the underneath a dark blonde. Teri actually has beautiful curly hair, but like many of us, she prefers to wear it straight, so that's what we do, blow it dry and use a flat iron with lots of protective products to keep her hair healthy and shiny. Teri is a local realtor.
Holly
This is Holly, she works at IOptics in Burns Court. Visit them at www.iopticseyewear.com. I have a wonderful pair of Theo eyeglasses that I bought from IOptics. Thanks Holly and Sharon. We colored Holly's hair today. We used Schwartzkof 5-68, in otherwords a delicate red/violet with a bit of copper. And....as you can see we really created some holiday spirit in the fringe area. That will change with the seasons. Holly has a very irregular neckline, so we go with it and create something of interest.
Kelly
Kelly owns The Olive Oil Company, in the Rosemary District, just behind the salon. We do a two tone color on Kelly, her fringe is a soft honey blonde and the remainder is a dark mahogany. The OOC is the best place in Sarasota to purchase oils, olives, pastas and many, many other wonderful specialty food products, as well as, meet friends for lunch or coffee or tea.

Tan while you Blonde
Brian's client Cheryl
Tara
This is Tara. She works at the Sarasota Olive Oil Co., www.sarasotaoliveoil.com. Tara is letting her hair grow. In the meantime we need to keep it trimmed so she has some semblance of style as it grows out. The Sarasota Olive Oil Co. is right in back of the salon on 5th Street, we go to SSOOC for yummy salads and panini's for lunch. Not to mention the great selection of oils, olives, pasta and the list goes on and on.
Family Day

Waiting in the salon was never so good
You can't see her, but that's Jordan's mom behind the Times. She is sitting comfortably at our espresso bar, enjoying her cup of espresso and catching up on the news, while she waits for her daughter. When she is tired of the newspaper there's always interesting "people watching" on Central Ave.

Renee's last client
This is Jordan, my last client. I love ending the day with a client like this. Jordan wanted a two tone color, eggplant on the top with a rich mahogany underneath to give her fine hair more depth. We topped the whole thing off with long layers and you can see how it suits her.

First Client of the Day
The first client of the day
Brian's first client was a cut and color. What a way to start the day, the color was a honey blonde with very natural looking highlights. You can see the precision in the cut, as well as, the focus on Brian's face. Brian is an excellent precision cutter who is also very skilled with color. He has been with the little salon for a little over a year. Brian has been training with myself and our creative director, but training is not the only thing that creates a great stylist. It's the talent. All the training in the world can go up in smoke if the stylist does not have an innate talent and Brian has it.

Introduction to the little salon
This is the little salon on central avenue. We are a group of 6; 4 cutters and 2 color specialists. Our background runs the gamut. We have worked with and for some of the most influential names in the business of "hair", both in the US and abroad during our careers. And.... we all thrive on our craft and... it shows. The idea of starting a blog for the salon seemed like a better idea than most advertising. I always feel uncomfortable with ads that make claims, like all ads do. It makes more sense to really get a feel for a salon and see the work without actually hanging around for 8 hours every day for a week or two. Not only would you not have time for that, you would get in our way after awhile We want to virtually bring you into the salon, and then for the physical visit later on when you are confident that you will leave the little salon feeling better than when you arrived. I'm not a writer, so the text here will be pretty simple. The next few postings will be an introduction to the staff, hopefully with photos and a few images of our work, as well as, what goes on at the little salon. Happy Thanksgiving!
