Carol

This is Carol before and after.  Carol was recommended by Graziella, one of Brian's regular clients.  We don't always have the time to take a before and after shot, but today it worked.  We wanted to show what a difference a good hair cut can make.  Carol has very nice hair, great color, but it had no shape.  Brian gave Carol a beautiful layered cut which framed her face nicely.

Joy before and after

There's no getting around it, Joy has a "lions mane" of hair.  She's a great sport to let us take a before photo when her hair was at it's wildest!  Thanks Joy!  This was Joy's second visit to Kristin for highlights and lowlights and to Brian for a cut.  What a difference a little time in the salon can make.

Ashley

This is Ashley.  Her hair was just to the collar when she came in.  She picked out a few pictures that she liked and then we talked about what would work with her hair and the shape of her face.  Ashley's hair was a bit damaged from over use of the flat iron.  Although we did use the flatiron in the finish, it won't be necessary for her to use it to achieve the look.  Ashley has very nice hair and with conditioning treatments at home her hair will be much healthier the next time I see her in the salon.  We used a pre iron spray by Alfaparf, Pure Veil.  When sprayed on before using a flatiron it protects the hair and gives it a great deal of shine.

Jennifer's new cut

Jennifer came back to see Brian for a cut that would help her to ease into a longer style.  The back is cut into a perfect beveled neckline with the longer crown falling into soft curls.  This cut can be worn all straight or part straight and part curly or all curly.  The curly hair was encouraged with 2 products: Hydrate Leave-In Conditioner and Kevin Murphy's Motion Lotion.  The Motion Lotion is an incredible new product for curly hair.  It leave curls separated and springy, but still soft to the touch.

Nicole Bride to Be

Nicole was in the salon on Monday to see Paul and Gabi for a trial updo and make up application. Nicole will be married in June and will be back in the salon with her entire entourage the day of the wedding for the full treatment.  The updo you see was a quick twist after her trial style had been brushed out.  Her make up was very natural which just the way she wanted it.

Alex and Tyler from New College

Alex and Tyler used our blog as a means to choose the little salon for their cuts.   They both had ideas as to the cut that they wanted.  Brian took a great deal of time with each consultation to make sure he understood what they had in mind.  Then he advised them of the possibilities and/or limitations based on their individual hair type.  They left the salon  with smiles on their faces which seems to be the way all of our clients.  We are looking forward to seeing Alex and Tyler back in the fall.

Tamara's a Brunette!

Remember Tamara and her new "red hair". Although she loved her red hair, she missed being a brunette. Kristin waved her magic hair color wand and now Tamara is a lovely brunette with caramel highlights.

Below is a the note that we got from Tamara.

I just wanted to send a thank you to Kristen for my hair color. I missed being my brunette self, and have already received so many compliments (and its only been a few hours!!!!). As before, I had a wonderful experience at the salon. You are all so friendly and inviting...and Kristen always makes me feel as if we are instant friends. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!

Congratulations Ringling Class of 2008

All of us at the little salon would like to congratulate the graduating seniors of 2008.  We have appreciated having you in the salon as clients and models for our cutting workshops.
We will miss all of you this summer and look forward to seeing some of you back at the end of August!
Best of luck to all of you who will be setting out to make your mark!!

Lauren and Mom on Graduation Day

This is Lauren and her Mom on Ringling's  graduation day.  Brian cut and colored Lauren's hair and I cut her mother's hair.  She went from below shoulder length to collar.  It was a nice change, they looked even more like sisters!   Lauren is an illustration student.  She brought some of her work into the salon for us to see.  She is very talented!  We'll miss seeing her in the salon this summer.
Congratulations Lauren!

Beth on Graduation Day

Beth was in to see Brian on the day she was to graduate from Ringling. Beth first came to the salon last year as a model for one of our workshops with Melvyn. We really love having the local students from both Ringling and New College, come to the salon. They are very open to anything we suggest and like something creative in both the cut and the color. We appreciate their willingness to loan us their heads for a few hours during our cutting workshops. We will miss them during the summer and look forward to their return in August!
Congratulations Beth!!
Beth can be contacted at bholder@ringling.edu or by phone 352.817.4494.

Laura

This was Laura's day for a full "bleach".  She has it done every few weeks, but actually in between is Laura's favorite color.  Dark at the base with white ends.  It really does look striking just a few weeks before the cut where the remaining white ends are cut off.  It's an interesting cycle, from totally platinum as in the photo to white tips, then we start all over again.  Kristin color's Laura's hair and I do the cut.  Laura is a personal trainer at Balance.  Balance is a fitness center in the Rosemary District on the corner of 5th and Lemon.  It is a wonderful facility for fitness of all levels.

Family Day

This was family day for Amy, Taylor and Cole.  Brian cut Taylor and Cole while I highlighted and cut Amy's hair.  They were getting ready for a family wedding.  They really are a beautiful threesome!!
