Marian's additions

I asked Marian to come back into the salon to make a few adjustments to the color I gave her last Saturday. She was in tonight and I added more of the Violetto Rosso. I also went back over the old color that was still showing through. This made the VR highlights pop out even more. We topped everything off with a Sangria Gloss, which gave the hair a great shine. I was happier with the results, which I am sure Marian was as well. That's the way we work at the little salon, if we, as stylists are not completely satisfied with the results, we will have the client come back into the salon ASAP, to adjust what is needed. And the same goes for the client not being completely satisfied, we will set a return date as soon as convenient for the her (or him). We truly strive for perfection.

Lauren is back

Lauren was back for another new look. This time she brought in pictures, which is always a good way to communicate what you would like to have done. The best part of the picture montage that she put together was that some of the pics had been taken from our blog. Lauren really wanted some very blonde panels, like Mitra's. After I cut Lauren, she went to Brian for color. Brian and Lauren together chose a Papaya color for the dramatic pieces coming from the crown, which fall over a very dark and very short fringe. There is also a dark panel that runs from the front fringe to the back which can be seen on the side view picture.

Sisters

These two cuties are Brian's neices. One with curly hair and one with straight. The cut on both girls is very much the same, which works with either curls or straight hair.

Graziella

Graziella came to Brian with fairly long hair and wanted something new and fresh. This cut is very creative in that the long layers are cut to form an inverted "V", which shows slightly in the side few picture. When the hair moves the angles of the cut show nicely. The shorter cut gives the hair more bounce and looks very healthy.

Marian

Marian is a new client at the little salon. When she came to us she wanted something new. I used a Tocco Magico mahogany that was about 2 shades darker than the color she came in with. I added Violetto Rosso panels to the longer side of the fringe. The cut is a work in progress.....we are going for a look with longer layers and a few more dramatic long pieces in the mix. This is a youthful look for a very attractive woman. Keep checking in to see how Marian's style progresses.

A Glass of Wine and a Great Cut

What could be better at the end of the day. Carolyn looks very relaxed as she should be. Brian is giving her a great cut and she enjoys a glass of wine to top it off.

VERY DRAMATIC Mitra's Transformation

Mitra tried his hand at coloring his own hair, which didn't turn out exactly as he expected. Not a good idea, even for an artist. Brian not only gave Mitra a much more interesting color, but also a great cut perfect for Mitra's style. I really like the steel gloss that Brian used to color the blonde and the black tips give the front a more dramatic look.

Shawna Before and After

A desperate call from Shawana to repair her self inflicted hair cut. Brian took the call for help and turned a distraught young woman into a very happy client. She did have a smile for us in the "before" picture, but the "after" smile was much more at ease.

Linda from Curly to Silky Straight

Linda's hair is actually very curly. She dosen't have it chemically straightened, we just work real hard at getting it straight when she's in the salon. We put a gloss on Linda's hair to seal in the color and give it extra shine. The gloss also helps with to control the "frizzies". After her hair is blown dry and flatironed it will stay straight until she shampoos again. Looks pretty silky straight right now!

"Coming to the little salon is Not Just a Hair Cut"

If I may quote Barb this was what she said after her last cut and color. She finally got tired of me snapping a gazillion pictures, as you can see. I was taking so many because the setting was incorrect and her color was coming out as yellow as the slicker she was wearing.

Victoria and company

Victoria came in on Saturday to have Brian cut and blow dry her hair. Since she has very curly hair, the blowing dry was a project. But, it was well worth the time, it looks shiny and smooth. Victoria had alot of support on Saturday. Pictured her is her Mother, Grandmother, Cousin and Brian in the background. That's just a part of the family that came along, there were three more members of the "support team" waiting outside while we snapped the picture. I think they were all smiling along with Victoria when Brian finished.

Alyssia

Alyssia visits the little salon when she is in Sarasota for the winter season. She is a former model, which is quite obvious, and is a photographer. Kristin has been coloring Alyssia's hair with a semi permanent hair color by L'Oreal. This color is more translucent than permanent hair color, it basically enhances the natural color and gives alot of shine. Brian gave her this fabulous cut. We should see Alyssia a few more times before she is off to Italy, where she lives during the summer months.

Lisa the Masterpiece of the Day

Lisa came to us with hair that was red at the mid shaft, red over black on the ends and natural outgrowth of about 2 inches and...................she wanted to be blonde. I know of many well seasoned colorists who would have turned on their heels and ran the other way. Well, not Krisitn, she was definetly up for the challenge and had the confidence to know that she could do the job and still save the integrity of Lisa's hair. Kristin did explain to Lisa that the beautiful honey blonde that she wanted will take some time, say at least two more visits over the next few months. This lovely strawberry blonde will certainly turn heads in the meantime. I watched Kristin as she very methodically applied color first to the mid shaft and then going to the next step of coloring the outgrowth and finally adding some very blonde panels of color throughout. This not only takes skill and patience, but also the knowledge to know how to choose the appropriate colors that will all work together. She used 4 different applications of color. After the color was completed I cut Lisa's hair. I gave her a more defined Bob with a shorter fringe to soften the forehead area. This was a great transformation and from what I understand a surprise for her boyfriend.

The Night Shift

If you are walking (or driving)on Central in the early evening hours, this is a sight you might see. Paul and Brian attending to their professional clients who need an evening appointment. This picture was taken from outside the salon looking through the front window. We see alot of people on their way to a wonderful dinner at Derek's about this time of the evening.

PLATINUM Sharon

Sharon has such a great look. Her "specs", her "very blonde" color and great cut are really her signature. We are working on letting the layers grow a bit with lots of texture and dimension. Sharon is the owner of IOptics. If you are in need of new eye wear IOptic's is the place to go. She has the best selection in town. Not only is the selection at IOptic's the best, both Sharon and Holly are the best at helping you select the right frame for your face shape and coloring. They are located in Burns Court next to the Cinema.

Ellie

Ellie was back today to have John work on her color. She was in the salon on Tuesday for a training cut with John and then they decided that Ellie's hair need to be softened. After the color, which looked wonderful they tried something apart from the blow dryer. Curls!!!
Congratulations John, Ellie's color looked stunning.

John and Barbara

This is Barbara and her son John, our receptionist and most recent trainee. Today Brian worked with John to create this cut on his mother. John also colored Barbara's hair this lovely natural blonde shade by Schwarzkopf. Both mother and son look extremely happy with John's work. You can certainly tell they are related, they both have the same wonderful smile.

Vicki

Vicki is a new client who was recommended by her daughter Lauren. Lauren is featured on a posting near the end of last year. When Vicki came into the salon, she was looking for a softer color with more definition and a cut with a shape that is good for her face and hair type. Kristin colored Viki's hair with hi and low lights, the result is much softer and more natural looking than before. Vicki's hair also needed a good cut that is easy to care for. I shortened the back and blended the layers that were already in her hair. The cut is not ideal yet, there are some areas that need to grow that are left over from a previous cut. After about 2 cuts, Vicki's hair will be right where we want it to be. This is a great lenght for Vicki, it frames her face beautifully.

Marina's New Look

Marina wanted something different today and I am always up for making a change with all of my clients. This is one of a few styles that she has had over the past year. Wev'e gone from traditional Bob to layers to this new cut with very straight lines. The platinum color with the severe lines of this cut make a strong statement, and Marina is just the right woman to wear it. Marina is the owner of Creme, a wonderful spa on South Trail, just past Bee Ridge. She is an excellent skin care specialist. Marina also has a technician at Creme who offers permanent makeup.

Ellie

Ellie's cut is the result of a training session with John. This is a basic Bob with a slightly beveled back. Very simple, but takes skill to execute with precison. Brian worked with John on this cut. Brian has been trained by Nevin, our creative director, and myself. We follow the Vidal Sassoon method, which I have used since the 70"s. For me there is nothing else that will produce results like this. It will take John about 1 year to perfect his cutting technique, as we see with this cut he is well on his way. Ellie came to John with below shoulder length hair, which was suffering from over bleach and extensions. Next step for Ellie will be to soften the color, which John will do next week under the guidance of Kristin, one of our colorist. For information on training cuts, give us a call at 941.955.4691.
