Carmen

Carmen is owner (along with her husband Patrick) and skin care specialist at
Bloom Organics on Siesta Drive across from Westfield Mall in Sarasota. Carmen has been letting her hair grow, so past cuts had been just a small amount taken off to elminate the dry ends. On this visit she was ready for a change so I cut layers into her hair to create more volume and curl. The layered cut is softer and frames her face nicely. Carmen's spa, Bloom Organics, is a very tranquil and unique spa. She uses only the purists skin care products in her treatments, as well as, a variety of pure and organic skin and body care products for retail. Carmen is a wealth of information on the effects that products and ingredients have on the skin.

Mary Jane

Mary Jane was recommended to the little salon by Patrick of Carmen and Patrick who own Bloom Organics. She was looking for a salon that uses hair color products that might work for people that have an allergic reaction to hair color. We use a product called Organics, which is ammonia free. The Organics hair color is excellent for people who have had a problem using hair color in the past. The line has as many beautiful colors as our other lines and coverage is very good. We also use perms and straighteners made by the Organics company. Mary Jane had been cutting her hair herself, so we had some repair work to do. With this cut I was able to shorten and blend much of the uneven areas, but it will take at least two more cuts to see the precison which is our goal. Check back later for an update on Mary Jane's hair.

Laurie

Laurie is a skin care specialist and nail technichian at Sunny's next to Publix, on the corner of 10th Street and US 41 in Sarasota. Sunny's is a full service nail and skin care salon. Laurie came to the salon last week to see Kristin for her color and Brian for her cut. Kristin put in highlights and lowlights which gave her a softer color than she had previously. Brian gave Laurie a short bob, with a graduated nape. Laurie's red sun glasses are great. I remember having a pair of rose tinted glasses back in the 70's. There were alot of us seeing life through rose tinted glasses in those days.

LONG AND BLONDE Amy

Amy came to the salon in need of a color correction. Her hair had been over highlighted, and the lowlights were uneven resulting in a dry over processed look, as well as having a brassiness over all. On the first visit I was very careful not to overlap and put in just enough lowlights to try and create a more even tone. After the color I added a gloss to give Amy's hair a healthy shine. We then conditioned and applied a leave in conditioner before she left. This time, which as her second visit, I retouched the crown and sides with only highlights and again topped it off with a gloss. I put in a leave in conditioner by Kevin Murphy and then dried the hair. Amy competes in fitness competitions and is 12th in the world. VERY CURLY Susan S

Susan has an incredible amount of hair, and the curl is fabulous. We have pretty much run the gamut with Susan's hair, from short and straight to longer and curly. The straightening was done by Kristin and was a nice change for Susan during the summer, but now she has decided to let her hair grow a bit and take advantage of the curl. There are some layers in the hair to encourage the curl to fall into a nice shape. We use a diffuser and a curl enhancing product called Motion Lotion, by Kevin Murphy.

From a disaster to a great cut

I got a frantic call on Saturday morning while I was doing my opening tasks for the day. Laura, the woman on the other end of the phone sounded desperate. I had a cancellation for 10am and thought I would use the time to catch up on some paper work, but I never pass up the opportunity to repair a cut gone bad, it's sooooooooooooo satisfying. I asked Laura if she could be in by 10 and it was settled. When I saw her, I couldn't imagine how someone could take money for doing something like this to a person'a hair. Anyway, I blended everything and took some of the heaviness out. She left the salon a much happier woman than the one who called earlier. And for me, it was a great way to start the day.

Patti and Charlotte

It isn't too obvious that these two ladies are sisters. Only 17 months apart! Patti and Charlotte were in to see Paul one evening last week. They have the same wonderful smile.
Paul works evening hours taking clients until 8:15pm.

Jordan's new color and cut

On Jordan's last visit she was ready for a change. Kristin added more Violetto Rosso in asymmetric panels around the head and I cut Jordan's hair much shorter in the back leaving the sides as they were. Which created a dramatic angle from the sides. The change is very apparent from the back and sides.

Every day is different

One of the best things about what we do is the possibility of every day being different from the day before. Today Kristin had a few openings and Brian and I were full, but there was still breathing room. My first client was Robert from Canada. Shortly after he left, he appeared with his wife Lynn and her friend Rochelle. They asked for a consultation and I had just enough time before my next client to briefly talk to each of them. As it turned out, Kristin colored both Lynn and Rochelle, Brian cut and styled Lynn while I cut Rochelle. The ladies were in the salon all afternoon, while there husbands walked to the other side of Downtown and back. Rochelle and her husband were due to fly back to Canada later today, so we did our best to work it out for her. So, the day took an unexpected turn, which it often does. We just never know when we walk in the door at 8 am what the day will bring. Today it brought us 4 new Canadian friends.
